This year also marks the launch of our new event Sprout Summit. Sprout Summit is a one-day event for emerging leaders who want to create positive impact by joining a non-profit board or starting their own non-profit or social enterprise. This marks the end of the first day of the Better Boards Conference 2015. It’s been a fantastic day of learning, inspiration and innovative thinking of Charting New Horizons in the non-profit sector. Thank you to our speakers and sponsors for helping it to make a fantastic first day of the Conference. We look forward to welcoming many of you back tomorrow for the Main Conference.



Our final highlight from the Board Innovation Tour today is a snapshot of how Surf Life Saving Queensland have embraced technology to help them more effectively monitor 33 beaches in QLD, via their SURFCOMS centre.

Board Member Innovation Tour delegates are hearing about how the Brisbane Broncos are working with their neighbours and local community, including the church next door (the wooden building in the photo below)






The Board Member Innovation Tour has made it to the third venue for the day – Suncorp stadium. From the corporate boxes to the ground delegates are hearing from stadium management & the Brisbane Broncos about their facilities, engagement with community & members and charitable work.

We’re back after lunch for CEO’s Roundtables.





Time for our second round of concurrent workshops! This time we’re reporting from the workshop on “A New Funding Model – How to Construct a Multi-Source Income Stream for Your Organisation” from Jo Scard, Founder and Principal, Fifty Acres.


More updates from the Board Member Innovation Tour – The second venue is Common Ground Qld where Penny Tarrent & Michael Kelly of Micah Projects are outlining the history & story that lead to the birth of Common Ground QLD, the organisation’s partnerships and having to fight to implement all the parts of the common ground model.



We’ve been hearing some updates from Sprout Summit on the second speaker for the day – Rhys Williams.








We’re back from morning tea for our first round of concurrent workshops. We will be reporting from Damien Cramer – National Industry Lead, Westpac Social Sector Banking – on achieving scale through networking and partnerships

We’ve just heard some news from the Board Member Innovation Tour. They’ve arrived at the first venue, which after a last minute change is LifeTec.


Delegates are hearing from CEO, James Barrientos and Lisa Capamagian from Tunstall about how LifeTec are strengthening their platform and value proposition to compete in the more open market place.



Registration has now opened for the inaugural Sprout Summit. Can’t wait to see the fantastic group of emerging leaders we have attending.



CEO’s Day is about to kick off in Plaza Rooms 9 & 10. If you’re ready with a coffee, head on in for the opening keynote from OzHarvest’s.Ronni Kahn after a welcome from MC Darren Isenberg and Conference Chair Michael Goldsworthy
