Listening is the Key to Success
Grace McCarthy – Dean, University of Wollongong
Listening improves strategy development and implementation, sales, and staff engagement and productivity. When people are listened to, they clarify their thinking. They feel valued that their manager or director recognises the importance of listening to them.
Boards make better quality decisions when they listen to each other and to stakeholders. Unfortunately many people do not listen well. They either interrupt or wait their turn while mentally rehearsing the argument they want to make. This presentation highlights the value of listening to board directors and provides practical tips to become a better listener.
