Matt Burrows – CEO, Therapy Focus
What is the functional meaning underlying terms such as consumer, client, customer and citizen? How do these functions relate to decision-making within organisational governance?
Matt Burrows is the CEO of Therapy Focus, a large not-for-profit disability service provider based in Perth. Matt has run both small and large not-for-profit organisations in the remote country and metropolitan areas. Currently based in Perth, he has also worked for nearly two decades in Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland, Alice Springs, Broome, and across all the vast lands in-between. Matt is an MBA qualified Chartered Secretary with a somewhat eclectic background, and for this reason he is often asked to present modules for the Governance Institute’s not-for-profit certificate course. Matt has contributed to the governance of National Disability Services via the WA State Committee and to the Community Arts Network. He is currently a non-executive director on the newly established Independent Centre for Applied Not-for-Profit Research. He is also a DBA Candidate with the John Curtin Institute for Public Policy at Curtin University, looking at effective governance models that empower people with disabilities as consumers of care services.
